Pig tattoo designs are often associated with traits such as a slob, unruly, obnoxious, greedy or pig-like. The pig (sometimes mistranslated as boar) is one of the 12-year cycles of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. These Earthly signs are linked with the Five Elements, or celestial signs, to form a complete horoscope. Using these two sets of signs together creates a 60-year cycle for complete astrological signs in China. It is thought that each Earthly and Celestial sign is associated with certain personality traits.
